Japan - MOL Launches Vessel Safety Campaign

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today announced the launch of a campaign targeting all MOL-operated vessels, starting on October 1.

“Forging ahead to become the world leader in safe operation” is a central theme in the midterm management plan “GEAR UP! MOL” which was formulated in April 2010. As part of these efforts, President Muto, executives, and other personnel will pay in-person visits to MOL-operated vessels to meet on-board employees and exchange information and opinions about prevention of incidents. Proposals and ideas gained through discussions with seafarers will be shared throughout the MOL Group and with other MOL- and MOL Group-operated vessels, with the aim of further enhancing the group-wide safe operation structure.

October 1 to November 15, 2012
- Specific topics for opinion and information exchange
Measures to prevent collisions based on recent cases, using visual and audio materials.
- Target vessels
MOL-operated vessels (dry bulkers, tankers, LNG carriers, car carriers, containerships)
MOL Group company-operated vessels (ferries, cruise ships)
- Vessel visitors
Executives and employees (Including those from overseas subsidiaries)
