According to Portstrategy, the Chilean government has proposed construction of a new port that will serve the country’s Fifth region.

Fifth region is already home to both San Antonio and Valparaiso ports, as well as the capital city of Santiago.

Portstrategy reports that the location of the port is yet to be decided, but could be close to either of the existing ports.

This new mega-port is expected to become operational by 2025.
