MS “PICTOR J” of the shipping company Jüngerhans resident in Haren (Ems) has moored as the first vessel at the new container terminal of the Jade-Weser-Port in Wilhelmshaven. With this vessel loaded with 75 empty containers, water-side operating tests should start at the unique german deepwater port.
According to the information of the carrier of the terminal Eurogate, further 50 empty containers are already available at the site and another 50 are available in Bremerhaven. Two portainers and six so-called “Straddle Carrier” are used for debarkation of the vessel. During the water-side operating tests, the staff is exercising the procedure of loading and discharging. Although inbetween 20 Straddle Carrier als well as four of the wordlwide largest portainers are ready for operation, the operating test will not be started by using the whole giant equipment. Furthermore, different procedures should be studied in an isolated manner and that operations are extended step by step by several giant equipment.
