Norway: Kleven Maritime Secures Subsea Support Vessel Contract

Norway - Kleven Maritime Secures Subsea Support Vessel Contract

Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with ship owner Rem Offshore for the building of an advanced multifunctional subsea support and construction vessel. The contract value is around 550 million NOK.

‘Kleven Maritime and Rem have had a strong relationship for many years, and we are very pleased that they choose Kleven again,’ said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO at Kleven Maritime. Kleven has so far delivered 12 vessels to Rem, and will also deliver a LNG powered vessel to Rem in December this year.

‘We believe the market for this type of vessels will be strong in the future,’ said ship owner Åge Remøy in Rem Offshore. ‘We took delivery of a vessel of the same type from Kleven yard in August 2008, and our experience with this vessel, ‘Rem Forza’, is very positive.’

‘The 108 metres long and 22 metres wide vessel will be among the largest offshore vessels the Kleven yard in Ulsteinvik have built, and it will have accommodation for 110 persons. We will do our utmost to make this a safe workplace for all of them,’ said Ståle Rasmussen.

The vessel is of MT6022 design from Marin Teknikk. Among its features will be a powerful offshore crane able to lift 250 tonnes at 650 metres or 135 tonnes at 3000 metres water depth.

Delivery date is set to June 2013.

TOC Americas

TOC (The Terminal Operations Conference) has long been considered best in class by container terminal operators and their suppliers. Over time, TOC has evolved and whilst they continue to deliver the highest quality technical content in line with their heritage, they also recognise that they must now hear from stakeholders higher up the cargo chain. Therefore, there are now two distinct elements to the event:

The exhibition is a showcase for port & terminal technology and operations plus TECH TOC, the free to attend technical conference aimed at terminal operators and their suppliers. Many suppliers come together to showcase cutting edge solutions to their clients, the terminal operators and ports.

More recently, the events now placed a new focus on the container supply chain making them the premier business and networking event for the stakeholders, including shippers, carriers and 3pl’s as well as the global operators and port authorities. This conversation takes place in the more recently created Container Supply Chain Conference.
