Holland America to Boost Its Coverage in Mexico

US-headquartered cruise company Holland America Line, a part of cruise line conglomerate Carnival Corporation & plc, plans to strengthen its presence in Mexico for the 2016-17 season by increasing the number of departures and returning a larger Vista-class ship to the region. 

Holland America Line’s services are to be upgraded with the 1,916 guest ms Westerdam that will sail a series of 13 seven-day cruises roundtrip from San Diego, California, starting from October 2016 through February 2017, according to the company.

The first departure is scheduled to start on 18 October, with ms Westerdam sailing from Vancouver in British Columbia to San Diego on a 11-day Mexican Riviera itinerary. The cruise ship is to visit Santa Barbara in California before calling at San Diego the first time. Further ports of call include Mexican Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta before returning to San Diego at the end of the voyage.

Holland America Line is expecting the delivery of ms Konigsdam, the first Pinancle-class ship, that is scheduled for the beginning of April. The ship is under construction at Fincantier’s Marghera shipyard in Italy.
