Fishing boats too will now sport unique registration numbers. An initiative of the department of fisheries in Dakshina Kannada will be replicated across India with the Union government giving its nod for the implementation of the 12-digit numbering system. The National Informatics Centre will have an online database and give key security agencies access to it.
