Statistics New Zealand last week released fish monetary stock accounts showing that fish stocks had risen in financial value by 47 percent since 1996 to reach US$2.8 billion. New Zealand’s Fisheries Minister Phil Heatley said that the fishery industry made a vital contribution to the country’s economy.
