Port tariff hike turned down

Transnet National Port Authority’s (TNPA’s) request for a 10.62 percent tariff increase has been rejected. Instead the port regulator has granted the state-owned enterprise a below-inflation 4.42 percent hike. Riad Khan, the chief executive of the port regulator, said yesterday the regulator would issue a statement explaining the rationale behind its decision at a later stage.
