Van der Velden to Exhibit Products at Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore

Van der Velden® Marine Systems will be attending the APM Exhibition from 14 to 16 March at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. Models and information about some top products of Van der Velden, such as the TIMON rudder and the Van der Velden® COMMANDER™ Rotary Vane will be shown and provided.

Van der Velden® Marine Systems is the first port of call for manoeuvring excellence. With almost 50 years of experience and Research & Development teams that are constantly looking for new ways of using the latest technology to improve performance, Van der Velden® Marine Systems can meet the specific needs of all types of vessels.

The activities of Van der Velden® include the engineering, construction and installation of manoeuvring systems. Van der Velden® is specialized in customized solutions for complete manoeuvring packages including rudders, rudder trunks, streamline bodies, steering gear and nozzles.

With Van der Velden®, both customers and yards benefit from an easy to install and integrated solution, a unified overall design and one project coordinator for the manoeuvring system.

The perfect solution for excellent manoeuvrability: the TIMON rudder

Van der Velden® Marine Systems supplies the well known flap-type TIMON rudder, which has a slide-bar flap linkage. Thanks to the flap-type principle, the TIMON rudder has a high maximum lift that results in a first class manoeuvring performance. The simple slide-bar flap linkage is easy to maintain and construct, so this manoeuvrability comes at a competitive price. The slim profile design ensures that the drag is low.

Van der Velden® TIMON rudders can be provided with the Asymmetric Rudder Technology. A special lay-out modifies the profile above and below the centreline of the propeller in such a way that the effects of the rotation of the propeller slipstream are countered. This expands the cavitation-free rudder angle and reduces drag. Benefits are an extended life-span of rudders, low vibration and low noise levels.

Advanced engineering: Van der Velden COMMANDER™ steering gear Available in ram-type and rotary vane versions, Van der Velden COMMANDER™ steering gear systems are the product of advanced engineering at its best. After successfully introducing the Van der Velden COMMANDER™ rotary vane steering gear last year, over 60 systems have been installed. The advanced sealing technology prevents internal leakage and ensures a greatly extended seal life.

The compact design and the fact that it only has one movable part ensures maintenance-free operation.

The ram-type steering gear, mounted on a single adjustable foundation plate, can be installed easily at shipyards. The plug and play solution is easy to maintain, has minimum wear and reduces heat and noise.

Van der Velden Marine Systems has been the first port of call for those who value manoeuvring excellence for almost 50 years. The company operates in three main areas: Inland WaterWays, Oceangoing Vessels and Yachting. Van der Velden® rudders and steering gear are recognised as being state-of–the-art. Wherever possible, products are integrated in a complete system with a tailor-made approach. Reliability, ease of maintenance, safety and a long life-span are key drivers throughout the design, manufacturing and installation processes. Customers and yards alike benefit from an easy to install and integrated solution, a unified overall design and one project coordinator for the manoeuvring system.
